Music
All classes from Kindergarten to Prep VI have a music lessons with a specialist teacher every week. Lessons vary from 30 to 45 minutes in length depending on the age of the children. All pupils perform in the department’s annual Christmas plays, plus there are regular productions involving both the Infants and Juniors.

Preparatory School Choir
The Prep Choir rehearses during morning break, and includes selected pupils from Preps III to VI.
No only does the choir sing at annual school commitments, including Prize Giving at the prestigious Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, but also for the school’s Harvest Festival and Carol Service at St Mark’s church, Worsley.
The choir also takes part in annual fundraising for Walkden Rotary Club’s citizenship scheme, which provides money for numerous local charities.

Instrumental Ensembles
The Prep Music Department owns a set of 2 descant, 2 treble, 2 tenor and a bass recorder and, as a result, has been able to form a Recorder Ensemble, which performs at school functions. Rehearsals take place weekly for 40 minutes.
There is an ensemble called Junior Fusion which allows for any instrument to participate. The group rehearses during the lunch break all year round and performs at most school events.
Drama
|
In the Prep Department, all pupils have a 30 minute lesson, either in the hall or our state-of-the-art drama studio, with a specialist teacher. Pupils participate as both performers and audience.
Productions, usually of a musical nature, take place at Christmas, Easter and at the end of the school year.

Included in the curriculum for each key stage is an annual theatre experience to a local venue. In addition, outside performers and companies are arranged to come in to perform or provide workshops.
The upper Juniors, Preps V and VI, combine this with their Literacy topics, by regularly going to Salford’s prestigious Lowry Theatre to enjoy the “Shakespeare 4 Kidz” productions of literary classics, the most recent being “The Tempest”.
