Salford City Basketball Final

On 2nd February, the Bridgewater Basketball team played the Oasis Academy at St. Patrick's RCHS, in the Y11 age group Salford City Basketball trophy final. In the first quarter, the team struggled to get a foothold in the game, as Oasis demonstrated a potent offensive. By the end of the quarter, the boys faced an uphill challenge, trailing by 22 points to 1. However, an inspired team talk by Sealey and Smith brought about a change of attitude from the Bridgewater team. We came out far more aggressively, challenged every ball, and slowly gained a foothold in the game.

The boys gained more and more momentum as the game went on, reducing the deficit to 5 points in the 4th quarter, but Oasis managed to fend off the spirited attack and won by 43 points to 36 to take the trophy.

Much praise must go to the boys for their fighting qualities and character. We all look forward to the league match next week, when Bridgewater have the opportunity of finishing runners up.

Coach Sealey commented "This has been a most enjoyable season, with a very hardworking squad, who have achieved collective success as a group."
