BRIDGEWATER SCHOOL TRANSPORT

As an additional service to both parents and students, the school operates a ‘School Bus Service’ covering many areas, some in the immediate locality of the school and others much further afield.

School buses are available for students of all ages, from Kindergarten through to Year 13.

Below is a list of the areas in which we currently operate this service. If your area does not appear in the following list, please do not hestitate to contact us. We welcome all enquiries.

Westhoughton/Lostock/Bolton

Walkden/Roe Green

Astley/Tyldesley

Flixton/Urmston

Leigh/ Atherton

Ellesmere Park/Monton/Winton

Pennington/Lowton

Boothstown/Worsley

Swinton/Salford/Eccles

Croft/Culcheth/Irlam/Cadishead

School bus routes are plotted over the course of the summer holidays using information collated from parents (via a letter usually sent home with your Starter Pack).

Parents can specify between AM collection, PM drop-off or travelling both ways, and are invited to suggest their preferred choice of collection/drop-off point. Whilst we appreciate many parents would prefer a door to door service, in many cases this is not practical and something we cannot guarantee to provide. We will, however, take in to account certain factors (such as the age of the child) when making any decisions.

Once routes are plotted, parents are contacted via a letter posted home (usually during the summer holiday) detailing a proposed collection/ drop off point, timings, costs and also provisional driver name plus contact information.

Routes can change annually and where a route may exist one year it may not the next, depending on demand. However, with adequate interest, new routes can be formed.

Unfortunately, the school cannot guarantee to provide a service for any student(s) until all information has been collated and all factors considered; however, the school will endeavour to notify parents as early as possible if transport cannot be provided.  Where practical, alternative collection points will be offered.

Bridgewater School and its transport partners are commited to providing the safest possible environment for young people travelling to and from their place of education.
